Please clarify license terms for the PDF test suites

The Adobe Acrobat Engineering team site (http://acroeng.adobe.com/wp/) is a great resource, containing all sorts of test files that are very helpful when developing PDF tools. Unfortunately, that site does not make the license terms of the test suites clear. Would it be possible to clarify the terms underwhich those files have been made available, so that it is clear whether we can re-use them for testing purposes? (e.g. CC-BY or whatever).

Enabling Reader plug-in.

I wrote plug-in for Adobe Reader.

Now I have exception:

Clip2net_160128162657.png

Just in case I unchecked the “Use only certified plug-ins” Reader’s setting and nothing (‘Certified plug-ins only’ = Edit > Preference: Application Startup: Use only certified plug-ins (unchecked)).

I modified AcroDspOptions.rsp as in documentation.

My plug-in based on the "BasicPlugin" project from the samples in the Acrobat SDK.

I don't have digital certificate.
I have Acrobat XI SDK.

What is wrong? Can I enable plugin without digital certificate?

Cropping from C#

Hi

I'm trying to remove the white margins around all pages on my document via the Acrobat 8.1 SDK and am struggling to workout exactly how to go about it (basically the same functionality if you do Document>Crop Pages>Remove White Margins).

My code works fine up to the point of cropping, but the document is created via a scanner and I don't know what the cropping rectangle would be. I'm guessing this can be found programmatically using the Media Box, but I have no clue how to do so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I am looking to create a macro in Word using VBA whereby the program will assign the headings/styles and the associated level for creating the PDF bookmarks.  I am basically trying to mimic the options provided on the "Adobe Tab" --> Preferences --> Bookmarks Option section. The purpose is to ensure a consistent approach across users with varying geographical locations.

Help to validate a signature

I want to validate a signature. So I have found some difficulties.

1) How to access the entire certificate given a signed PDF file? That is, subject, issuers, signed/unsigned attributes, digest, public key, cert chain, etc. How to access /Contents?

2) I looked for PubSec and DigSig methods and I notice that some ask for sigField as parameter. How to build a CosObj sigField?

3) Also I would like to get help to use an EnumProc, like FieldEnum. It should not access any dictionary in PDF? Why only under /Annot?

set name of form field

In looking through the documentation of the Acrobat SDK, it seems as if the name of an existing form field is read only.

Is this true, or is there some method that I am missing?

We have an old VB6 app that accepts drops directly from Acrobat/Reader page thumbnails. Works perfectly. I've searched high-and-low for a way to do that in .NET and have not found a solution. Any ideas?

Thanks.

AxAcroPdf COM control and Save sommand

I have a AxAcroPdf COM control in my simple WinForms application. When I open a file in it, I can Save by clicking a save button (AxAcroPdf control displays standard toolbar with Save, Print...). Is there any way to bypass this and call Save/Save As from my code directly? AxAcroPdf control has execCommand(object strArray) function but I couldn't find any documentation on it (SDK doesn't contain any info on this function) and I don't know how to invoke Save command. Any help will be much appreciated.

Acrobat questions

Hello there,

Our project is to write an Acrobat plug-in to handle PDF files. I have three questions. Can some one please help?

  1. Is there a way to create a PDF form where top part contains locked structured form fields while the rest of the document is free form?
  2. Is there a way to provide user a PDF template form where they can be forced to work on the form instead of the original one?
  3. Is there a way to programmatically fill in form fields without running Acrobat, aka to manipulate the firm directly?

Thanks.

Does the Adobe Acrobat SDK support Long Term Validation (LTV) and Signature Policies in digital signatures of PDF files?

$

     Short version:

How to implement the following dictionaries:

                  (1)  DSS (Digital Security Store);

                  (2)  VRI (Validation Related Information); and

                  (3)  Document Timestamp dictionary

defined in ETSI TS 102 778-4 and needed for managing Long Term Validation

(LTV) of PAdES signatures, and signature policies, in an Adobe

      Acrobat/Reader plugin?

    Long Version:

We are working on an Adobe Acrobat plugin to generate and validate digital

signatures in the format PAdES for PDF documents according to the Brazilian

Public Key Infrastructure (ICP-Brasil) ETSI-compliant standards. These

standards require the use of three types of ETSI-compliant PDF dictionaries

that do not appear to be supported by the PubSec API parameters. These

dictionaries are the DSS (Digital Security Store), the VRI (Validation Related

Information) and the Document Timestamp dictionary which are necessary for

managing Long Term Validation (LTV) of PAdES signatures. These three

dictionaries are in defined in ETSI TS 102 778-4

The ICP-Brasil standards also require the utilization of Signature Policies

(according to ETSI TR 102 272) which also use the DSS and the VRI

     dictionaries mentioned above.

The issue we present here for discussion is that the Adobe PubSec interface,

as well as the DigSig interface, (to the best of our knowledge) do not support

these dictionaries (DSS, VRI and Doc Timestamp). Therefore, how should we

proceed to implement the plugin we are working on so that it may support

     LTV and Signature Policies?

We would be very happy to receive advice from the Adobe SDK community

on this issue. And would be eager to know whether the SDK has another API

that provides the additional support mentioned above (LTV and Sig Policies),

or if we are missing something important in the PubSec API that provides

     this support.

Send and track for Outlook stopped working?

2015-07-03 Send and track for Outlook worked perfect. Today (same environment, no changes made by me or system administrator) I just get a message (in Swedish) "This Adobe ID can not be found. Open Acrobat and log in with your Adobe ID". Wich I did. Several times. Also closed Outlook inbetween and so on. Sad that this excellent service from within Outlook (that MS failed to offer, despite all kind of "professional" Sharepoint services) stopped working so soon. Is there anything I can do to restore the function?

I wish to build application integrations with Adobe Reader, specifically in the area of commenting and stamping. I understand Adobe Acrobat SDK is what I will need. Are there any cost attached to the SDK? Are there any restrictions in distributing applications made using the SDK?

Does anyone know how to automate two pdf files using adobe acrobat. I want to do this because we want to compare hundreds of file every day through some automated process.

I have posted this query in acrobat javascript forum, it seems there is no solution by using javascript. I have been asked to check with acrobat SDK forum members.

Please let me know is there any programmatic(API or SDK ) solution available to do this?

Any kind of help will be greatly.

Extracting pages from one PDF and adding them into new PDF

$

Hello,

I am looking to extract PDF pages from an existing document into a new document using VB.NET and the Adobe Acrobat Library/API (Interop.Acrobat).  Essentially, I want to take a large amount of pages and break them down into separate documents. For example. I want to break down a 100 page document into 2 50 page documents, etc.

I have written some code below; once I can write into a single PDF, I will them loop and write out to as many PDF documents as I need.  Line 33 returns nothing, as I assume the underlying document I am attempting to access has not been created.  The other code I have written accesses an already created document using the .Open() method.  What do I need to do in order to create the document object before I step to Line 33?  I do not see any methods under _acroDoc2 to create a new PDF, only to Open() existing documents.

My code is as follows:

Dim filePath = "Path/To/Source/File"        'create adobe and get document        Dim _acroDoc As New Acrobat.AcroAVDoc()        Dim _myAdobe As New Acrobat.AcroApp()        _myAdobe.Hide()        Dim _pdDoc As Acrobat.AcroPDDoc        _pdDoc = Nothing        _acroDoc.Open(filePath, "sourceFile")        _pdDoc = DirectCast(_acroDoc.GetPDDoc(), Acrobat.AcroPDDoc)        'retrieve total page count from document        Dim pageCount = _pdDoc.GetNumPages()        'determine how many pages per document        'Dim pdfPageLength = Math.Floor(maxPagesAllowed / letterRecord.DocumentPageLength) * (letterRecord.DocumentPageLength)        Dim pdfPageLength = 50        'create new instance of adobe to extract pages from original instance        Dim _acroDoc2 As New Acrobat.AcroAVDoc()        Dim _myAdobe2 As New Acrobat.AcroApp()        _myAdobe2.Hide()        'get second empty document instance to write a new PDF        Dim _pdDoc2 As New Acrobat.AcroPDDoc        _pdDoc2 = DirectCast(_acroDoc2.GetPDDoc(), Acrobat.AcroPDDoc) 'this line equals nothing as document isnt instantiated        Dim startPage As Double = 0        Dim endPage As Double = pdfPageLength        'insert pages from original PDF document instance        _pdDoc2.InsertPages(startPage, _pdDoc, startPage, endPage, 0)        'save and close        Dim savePath = "C:\Users\myusername\Desktop\newPDF.pdf"        Dim savemergefile = _pdDoc2.Save(1, savePath)
